What is a Forehead Lift?

The forehead lift or "lifting" of the forehead is used to correct sagging in the tissues of the forehead area, which gives a tired and aged appearance.

The lifting of this area of the forehead and eyebrows using endoscopic techniques, reduces visible signs of aging to restore the youthful appearance of the patient.

The vast majority of candidates for a forehead lift are between the ages of 40 and 60, since this helps to minimize the effects of aging. However, this procedure can also be performed on minors who have very sharp lines and wrinkles on the forehead.

The forehead lift is also part of a set of techniques used in a facelift (link), or it may be done in conjunction with blepharoplasty to achieve better results.

It lifts the eyebrows and results in a more youthful appearance around the eyes and face.

  • Along with Dr. Sanchez, you define the most appropriate treatment taking into account the shape of the eyebrows, skin quality, position of hairline wrinkles.
  • Do not use products containing salicylic acid, aspirin and derivatives that can act as anticoagulants.
  • Quit smoking one month before the operation.
  • Inform the surgeon about any allergies to medications.

Forehead Lift Procedure

  • There are two types of procedures for a forehead lift:
  • Classic forehead lift:
  • Incisions are made from above the ear and along the top of the temple, which follows the line of hair to hide the scars.
  • Then the forehead skin is lifted and any excess tissue is removed.
  • In the same way the eyebrows are lifted and excess skin removed. If the patient is balding, it is recommended that the incisions are on the middle of the scalp so that the scar is less visible.
  • Endoscopic Forehead Lift:
  • This has replaced the conventional procedure since its recovery is faster, leaving less signs of surgery and provides superior results.
  •  Incisions are smaller and camouflage into the scalp.
  • A small camera is introduced in the incisions, allowing the surgeon to identify the tissues and muscles that are causing the negative effects under the skin.
  • The surgeon inserts another instrument to remove and lift the muscles of the face and any tissue that is below, stretching the profile of the temple. Likewise, eyebrows are raised and held by 'clips' metal or stitches above the hairline.
